There are always things to be grateful for.
Yet in the chaos of everyday life, these things can be easily missed.
That’s why I’m such an advocate for creating a daily gratitudes list.
It’s a positive habit that helps you to slow down and be present; To fully embrace and enjoy life’s crazy beautiful ride.
But I’ll be honest, expressing gratitude isn’t always easy.
Some days, for whatever reason, it’s hard to see the good around us. I guess that’s just part of being human.
That’s why I decided to create this list of 85 things to be grateful for.
I hope it reminds you of how wonderful your life truly is, even when it feels less than spectacular.
And, if you don’t already, I hope it inspires you to adopt some sort of daily gratitude practice. It can be as basic as writing down 3 things you’re grateful for each day (my daily planner actually provides space for for this!).
It’s such a simple habit, but it offers so many scientifically proven benefits.
85 Things to Be Grateful For Today and Every Day
1. Waking up.
An opportunity for a new day and a fresh start is a true blessing!
2. Access to clean drinking water.
It might seem normal to you, but it’s certainly not normal to everyone.
3. Having food to eat.
And not just that, but so many delicious options to choose from!
4. A hot cup of coffee in the morning.
The smell, the warmth (especially on a cold day), it’s blissful.
5. Being able to communicate with loved ones, near or far.
You can text, call, or even video call so you can see their beautiful face(s). That’s actually crazy cool when you think about it!
6. Having a good hair day.
You know it puts an extra pep in your step when you flow finally decides to cooperate, lol.
7. That feeling when you solve a problem.
It doesn’t matter how big or small, it feels good. So pat yourself on the back!
8. A quiet night at home.
It offers stillness, relaxation, and time to think (or just be!).
9. A good book.
It’s fun to learn and/or use your imagination, isn’t it?
10. That thing that just got delivered.
Especially when that something isn’t a bill, lol.
11. Randomly running into a friend.
It’s always a pleasant surprise.
12. A hot shower.
Being able to shower is one thing, but being able to enjoy a hot shower is another.
13. A good workout.
Even when you don’t feel like working out, you always feel great once you do.
14. Feeling rested.
It’s so much easier to be the happy, productive person you strive to be when you get a good night’s rest.
15. The weekend.
Not the singer, unless you want it to be, lol. But how exciting is it to know that you have time to do whatever you want to do?
16. Fresh air.
And did you know that spending time outside actually benefits your physical and mental health?
17. Your favorite pair of jeans.
The ones that make your legs and booty look juuuust right, haha!
18. That candle scent you can’t get enough of.
The one that brings you comfort and joy.
19. The freedom of choice.
You get to choose how you dress, what you do for a living, who you love – so many things! How great is that?
20. Spending time with a good friend.
And those nonsense conversations you have with them.
21. Family dinners.
Sitting down, enjoying each other’s company, eating… few things are better.
22. Lessons learned.
They’ve given you strength and wisdom.
23. The internet.
Think of all of the things you’ve been able to learn and people you’ve been able to connect with!
24. Your home.
Having a roof over your head is a necessity; One with heating and cooling? A luxury!
25. Your bed.
And all of it’s cozy goodness.
Plus all of the wonderful traditions that go with them!
27. Your mind.
Your ability to think, problem solve, etc. are true gifts.
28. Modern plumbing.
Not everyone has the ability to get rid of their waste simply by pushing a button.
29. The opportunity to get an education.
Knowledge is the key to unlocking opportunity.
30. Our armed forces.
We get to feel safe and secure every single day because of them.
31. Researchers and inventors.
Without them, society wouldn’t make progress.
32. Medical professionals.
Their dedication and knowledge keeps us healthy.
33. Having a supportive partner.
They lift us up, even when we’re feeling down.
34. A smile from a stranger.
A simple pleasure, especially since so many people walk around with their nose on their phone.
Hobbies give us the opportunity to learn, grow, and enjoy life without the pressure to perform a certain way.
36. Free Wifi.
As well as the money it saves you on data, lol! Both awesome things to be grateful for!
37. Sports and entertainment.
They give us things to do and look forward to.
38. Getting organized.
I know this isn’t fun for everyone, but it’s essential if you want to create a happier life.
39. Hearing someone’s good news.
A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle!
40. Having good news to share.
No matter how big or small, it deserves to be heard and celebrated.
41. Good health days.
For some, these are fewer and farther between, so we can’t take them for granted.
42. Having a little extra money in the bank.
And the peace of mind it provides!
43. Going on – or looking forward to – a vacation.
Is it me, or is the anticipation almost as fun as the trip itself?
44. A deep belly laugh.
Like the kind that make you lose your breath.
45. The ability to forgive others.
It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it.
46. Being able to work and make a life for yourself.
You might not be working your dream job (yet!), but you can still appreciate this stepping stone.
A mid-week dinner, an unplanned trip, these are all things to be grateful for (and this we all need more of!).
48. Completing your daily to do list.
How good does it feel when you can go into your evening without things hanging over your head?
49. Completing your weekly to do list.
And knowing that a free weekend is completely ahead of you!
50. The vision for your life and your ability to create it.

Be it a famous author, inventor, or a family member, there’s a lot you can learn from them.

It’s comforting to know that you don’t have to do life alone.

I mean we can get pretty much anywhere we want to go within a day. That’s WILD.
54. Happy memories.
Especially the ones that felt so ordinary in the moment but still stick with you.
55. A meal you didn’t have to cook.
And the dishes you likely didn’t have to do, lol!
56. Being in love.
If you’ve not been there yet, don’t worry, it’ll happen.
It gives you an opportunity to show people who you are without saying a word. And it keeps you warm!
58. A kind stranger.
Like the lady who got chatty in the Target line.
59. A good, tight hug.
Unless you’re not a hugger, lol. I’m a big hugger!
60. Vitamins and supplements.
They give your body whatever it needs without any effort.
61. Your teachers.
Their patience and belief in you is just as valuable as the knowledge they shared.
62. Making someone smile.
Whether it’s a sincere compliment, a simple thank you, or a thoughtful gift, it feels just as good (if not better) to give than get.

Think of what they allow you to accomplish in a single day! I should have put this one at the top of my things to be grateful for list.
68. Your ability to help others.
We all have gifts we can give to others.
69. Your ability to accept help.
There’s not a human on earth that’s great (or even remotely good) at everything. Ask for help when you need it, and accept help when it’s given to you.
I don’t know about you, but I feel inconvenienced when it goes out for a few hours! It really is a luxury that shouldn’t be overlooked.
71. An outfit that makes you feel fierce.
You know which one I’m talking about!
72. Breaking a bad habit.
It takes a lot of discipline and intention to do.
73. Lunch breaks.
And they opportunity they give you to breathe and refocus.
74. Old pictures.
And all the of the memories they bring.
75. The ability to create a happier life for yourself.
At any moment, on any day, you can start to create a happier life. You just have to commit to it!
76. Healthy foods.
And the amazing things they do for your body!
77. Clean air.
People in heavily polluted areas, like China, are more prone to respiratory issues. So if you get to breathe clean air each day, consider that a major blessing!
78. Your strengths.
So many of us focus on we’re not good at, but there are so many things we are good at. Celebrate and appreciate them!
79. When your work is done for the day.
And you can do whatever it is you want, even if just for a few minutes.
80. Your favorite comfort food.
I don’t know about you, but Mac and Cheese is at the very top of my things to be grateful for list, lol.
81. Making someone laugh.
It’s truly a moment of pride, lol. At least for me.

It has its downsides, but it also keeps us in touch with family members and friends around the globe!

I think it’s safe to say that most things to be grateful for are delivered in the most ordinary moments.
So don’t wait for that next milestone, achievement, or accolade to express gratitude.
Do it every single day; Celebrate the tiniest joys scattered throughout your day.
I promise you, so much beauty and happiness will unfold because of it.
